The Daughters is a folk-funk opera that follows the journey of the vixen starlet Aphrodite, the ruthless hunter Artemis, and the child prodigy Athena - all daughters of the original showstopper, Zeus. Set against the vicious backdrop of the ceaseless Trojan War, The Daughters explodes the stories of three young women into an immersive, raucous, and heartbreaking rock concert, asking how a spotlighted generation can find their voice in a deafening world. |
Begun as a thesis project at The Experimental Theater Wing, and remounted for a one-night, sold-out concert at The Public Theater's Joe's Pub, the show was selected for a staged reading workshop at the Yale Institute for Music Theatre in the summer of 2010. The song, 'Child', was performed in the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT)'s Festival of New Musical's Songwriter's Showcase. In March of 2011, The Daughters was presented in a three-week workshop run at CAP21 Theater Company. The show is currently being further developed. Stay tuned for updates. |
