I'm so happy to finally be back at my favorite place in the world, the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. My musical adaptation of As You Like It is currently running in this year's Free Shakespeare in the Park season, featuring a phenomenal ensemble of both professional actors and community members from across New York, over a hundred strong. This is a Public Works production, a program I'm proud to have been part of for the last six years.
We run between now and September 11th. All tickets are FREE. Here's how you can access them. Here's a little video explaining how to get them too.
This production was supposed to happen back in 2020, and when we couldn't perform, we instead made Under The Greenwood Tree, a documentary about the show and our experience. If you want to learn more about Public Works and why I love it so much, take 59 minutes and watch it here.
We have a cast album in the works coming out later this year, but in the meantime, if you come to the show and want to hear the songs again, my demos of the score are available here. :)
In the five years since we first put on our As You Like It here in New York, the musical has been produced and performed more than 40 times in regional theaters, schools and communities around the world. If your local theater is interested in doing the show, you can get a license for it here from Concord Theatricals. It makes me SO happy to see photos of and posts about all your various productions and to see the joy of our Arden spreading far and wide.
This has been such a hard year in the world, and Public Works is here to bring you all some joy and healing. This show and this program run very deep in my heart and I'm so grateful to share the stage with our beautiful community every night in the park. Come join us.
See you down by Turtle Pond,
